The principle of molecular sieves is utilised to remove samll molecules for desalting and buffer replacement. Gel filtration chromatography uses the size of molecules to restrict the passage of large molecules through a multi-hollow medium, allowing small molecules to pass through the medium for separation and purification; It can remove substances with molecular weights of less than 5KD from nucleic acid and protein solutions, such as ethanol, salts, fluorescent substances, and sugars.
